MyKad
Registration System
The MyKad-based Registration System is a reliable
and efficient system that can read data from MyKad (also known as Government
Multi-Purpose Card) for registration purposes. By inserting the MyKad into
a special reader, the user's card details are retrieved and displayed on the
screen. For additional security, a biometric reader can be used to identify
the user by scanning his/her thumb print. The information retrieved from the
card can be stored for use at a later time.
A user-friendly system applicable for various

System Components
MyKad (GMPC)
The MyKad is an Identity Card issued by the Malaysian Government that
stores the user's information in a Smart Chip. This card was
designed to be a multipurpose card that stores other user applications
such as user's driver's license, health card and passport information.
Reader and Biometric Sensors
The MyKad reader is designed by Iris Technologies for reading data from
MyKad. There are various types of reader such as card readers with
or without a biometric sensor. Those with biometric sensors can
scan and verify the user's thumbprint with the thumbprint encoded in the
MyKad chip. For ease of use, there are also fixed and portable
readers.
Workstation
The workstation is used to display the information retrieved from the
card. The workstation can also be linked to process the data
retrieved.
